Story for 1st time up for the Turbo-trainer

1st time up for the Turbo-trainer

Although I owned one of those static bikes in the past I have never even tried a turbo-trainer, so, this being England in the winter and me having to de-chub both extensively and rapidly, I thought buy one and get yer fat arse on it asap. A a little internet research later (unusual for me as I am a world class impulse buyer) I settled on the CycleOps SuperMagneto which was described in the reviews as one of the most robust, quietest and easiest to assemble and use - these latter 2 points are most important to me as a Grade A assemblage-cretin - anyway it was delivered on time, it was as described, it did what they said it would do and it doesn't puncture!! It's not "quiet" probably as intrusive as the washing machine or dishwasher I suppose but certainly not in yer face noisy and it was actually a bloody good workout once I had ascertained resistance, gearing, cadence and heart rate zones. All good then but I reckon after an hour without any other distractions you would certainly have had enough - as indeed I did when boredom enveloped me like a close and sweaty shroud! I guess you can hook something up to play DVD's of great TDF or Giro stages while spinning but that is a technological bridge too far for me as I don't even own a DVD player. I will speak nicely to LBN, who does know about this stuff and she may assist - depends on my performance really I suppose ....
