Day 2: Greagle, CA to Little Grass Valley
The second day got us into the Plumas National Forest around Eureka. We had two options: a short and sweet one that would get us in camp in the early afternoon, or a long one that would make us drop and gain back several thusands feets. I chose the latter, I didn't want to make this trip too easy.
The day had a pretty chill start, but the nice warm breakfast helped me and my fellow rides get to the road in decent shape.
The start was on road, but we quickly turned into dirt roads. That's where the fun began.
Biking in the forest was very calming, and I was energized by the first day.
The only cars passing us were our great support team checking on us to make sure we were doing good. And these guys:
For the rest, we really had the road for ourselves. The panoramas from the top of Eureka was amazing
Where the road was wasn't alwasy clear...
When you are at the top, the only thing to do is to get down!
This was the first time I went over 30 miles per hours on a forest road on my cross bike. I have to say, it was a lot of fun!
The terrain wasn't always as smooth, there were several sections that were a little bumpy on the cross bike.
Sometimes the terrain was a little too much for my poor cross bike
After some more dirt roads, we got into camp.
The camp had no showers, but it was close to fantastic reservours. The dip in the water was very refreshing.
